Beggars
Hall report (top)
This water continues
to fish well with anglers fishing into the winter months, our bailiffs
have reported seeing cormorants on the water, we hope they will not
become too much of a problem.
We are more concerned about the water levels, Mr Streeter our landlord
has cut back the trees round the lake in the hope the roots won't damage
the clay linning.
Early last year we stocked this water with Bream and Crucian Carp.
Malcolm
Barker Lake report (top)
This season we received some reports about anglers using banned baits
on this water, the committee decided to do some late night bailiffing,
We are pleased to say the people night fishing, none were using banned
baits. We have also received some emails from Carp Anglers complaining
about the way they are treated and the fact they don't have a voice
about the fisheries. The anwser to this is come to the AGM better still
join the committee and have some input. The lake has fished well this
season with all species being caught. Work around the lake is ongoing
,some of the wooden swims have been replaced along the railway bank.
Early this season we had to introduce a keepnet ban, this was due to
some fisheries having problems with pollution. The lake will be opened
next season on Wednesday the 7th June, anyboby attending three or more
working parties will be allowed to fish on Sunday 4th June. On the back
water the bailiffs have made permanent numbered swims.
River
Stort report (top)
This season we held matches on the river against Sawbridgeworth with
good results. Fishing above and below Twyford Lock, each team had 20
people and everybody caught. Good catches of Roach have been reported
this season, but we have not heard much about Perch or Chub. We now
Know there are greater numbers of signal cray fish above Twyford Lock
as they could be seen moving along the bottom in the clear water..For
the fourth year running Paul Conway has won the Pike Trophy with a 12lb
4oz fish.
Turnford
Consortium report (top)
The decision to
open the lakes for all year round fishing seems to be the right one
,with more members showing interest. Members may however find the fisheries
shut on days of the work parties, this is for health and safety reasons. The
lakes this season have produced some specimen fish. This is due to a
good stocking programme in the past and the hard work of Gary Fricker
the fishery officer. We now have the working party dates, anybody wishing
to attend please call the Secretary on 01279 654154. Any new members
wishing to fish Turnford must have an identity card, send a passport
size photograph and self addressed stamped envelope to me, the secretary
BSDAS, for those who already have an ID card you will require a Turnford
ticket for next season.
