The club has an agreement that enables you to fish Kings Arms waters -: Contact Dave Tadgell on 01279 654154 for details.

Turnford Lakes can also be fished on the BSDAS membership (all year) but again you need to arrange this with Dave Tadgell

Malcolm Barker Lake - Bishops Stortford

How to get there
Just as you come into Stortford from the Spellbrook side of town, after the traffic light at Thorley take the next turning on the right (Pig Lane). Across the railway bridge then first left, continue until the end of the lane - the lake is on the right.

Species
Tench, Carp, Crucian, Bream, Roach, Perch, Eels

Methods & Bait
Pole by the lilly pads. Light ledgering. Normal float tactics.
Chick pea, Luncheon meat, sweet corn, bread all catch quality fish

Reported Catches this season
....waiting in anticipation !

Beggars Hall - Little Hallingbury

How to get there
From the M11 Roundabout take the old A120 to Dunmow. At the Esso station on the left take the road opposite to Little Hallingbury and follow for a mile or so until you get to the Hop Poles pub. Turn left here and take the 3rd lane leading to Beggars Hall (it does say private road but we are obviously allow to use it !). Follow the road to the house and the lake it to the right.
Park on the grass next to the field.

Species
Tench, Carp, Crucian, Bream, Roach, Perch

Methods & Bait
Pole & ledgering are favourite but normal float tactics work as well (floating crust in the summer gives good results).

Again Chick pea, Luncheon meat, sweet corn, bread all catch quality fish.
Maggots tend to attract the smaller fish....but ....?

Reported Catches this season
....waiting in anticipation !

River Stort

How to get there
Via the towpath from the Town Strech down to the Tanners Arms pub then from Southmill Lock to Pig Lane and through to Spellbook Lock (accessible from spellbrook lane east...next to the ? pub)

Species
Roach. Chub, Perch, Pike predominate but the occasional carp does show

Methods & Bait
Mainly float tactics but poles can be useful for difficult swims.

Bread for roach is a killer ! Worms for big perch. Pike seem to prefer dead sea baits.

Reported Catches this season
....waiting in anticipation !
Last season produced several pike over 20lbs, perch to 1lb+, excellent bags of roach and lots of good chub....1 supposedly 5lb + and several brown trout !!
