Take a friend fishing and try fishing days 2023

Looking out of the window at the moment the hot days of last summer seem a long time ago but time to think ahead to the warmer months to come.

For the last few years the Angling Trust and Environment Agency have been running a few events that you might be interested in and are a great opportunity to introduce someone you know to the sport we all love.

First off are the EA's Take a Friend fishing offers which allow rod licence holders to get a free day licence to take someone fishing for a day. The scheme is running:

  • Sat 1 April to Sun 16 April (Easter holidays)

  • Sat 29 July to Sun 3 September (Summer holidays)

Lots more info here: https://takeafriendfishing.co.uk/

And back again are the various try fishing days run by the AT. These allow you to try out fishing at various waters around the country where there will be qualified angling coaches to help out. There are a few around this area at the moment with more being added, sign up here:

Club members can get day tickets here:

Finally keep an eye out on our posts for events being run by or in association with the Club:

  • For the last few years we have been part of the East Herts Council's Waterside Festival weekend which usually takes place on the late August bank holiday weekend where we have run our own taster sessions.

  • Watch out for posts for Fishing in Mind events as I know Darren is keen to get a few dates in the diary when the weather improves.
