Wickham Hall Reservoir
Little Hadham SG11 2EB
W3W solar.spaceship.fillers [corrected]
Wickham Hall is brand new to the Club for the 2024/5 season with 20 swims. It is a former agricultural reservoir so is very deep in places (30 feet) and will be a bit of mystery to start with. It is around 2 acres with margins around 3 - 4 feet but getting deep quite quickly. Although the swims are flat some of the slopes to the swims can be slippery when wet. Ther two opposite corners (near left and far right) can be weedy in summer as they are a bit shallower but the water should otherwise be pretty weed free. The lake is fenced in and access is via a combination locked gate. Please do make sure the gate around the lake is kept closed. Please report any signs of trespass.
Getting there: From Bishop's Stortford leave the Tesco's roundabout towards Hertford A120. At the next roundabout take the first turning towards The Hadhams, Albury and The Pelhams - on the old road and not the new Hadham bypass. After 200 yards turn right to Hadham Park (the staggered crossroad is signed Cradle End to the left) and then bear left through the large gates of the Connect Scaffold yard. Go slow please as the yard can be busy. Go through the gate at the end of the yard and onto the concrete road (do not turn right under the bridge) turning left onto the track at the end - you see some signs pointing to the lake along the track. Follow the track along the field turning right at the end and then around the hairpin bend. Turn right by the small pond and our car park is straight ahead. The entrance to the fishery is further along and up the slope.
Species: Roach, Rudd, Bream, Carp - others TBC but might include the odd trout. No pike in the lake.
