Phil's day (Rob still on holiday)
Morning to all. The Weds club fished its monthly match against Abbey Cross on their water Taylor's Lake at the car park end. I drew peg 8; it's an ok peg but you are piggy in the middle with 7 and 9 and all 3 fishing towards the same small island.
I made up 2 lines on the pole at 6ft deep and found 2 rigs that did the job perfectly. Cupped out some red maggots and sweetcorn with micro pellets. This was my plan for the day which started off really well on corn getting half decent roach and rudd but that didn't last long before it tapered off. Then down to working both swims to get the odd fish. I changed over to maggots and kept the lines going but it was getting so you just got one fish every 20 minutes but I enjoyed my day - caught a few fish and weighed in 3lbs 8oz. The pic is my peg for the day and comfortable it was.
Abbey Cross won the day points with 59 to 46. Well done to Tony and Fred for top weights on the day 19lbs 3oz and 18lbs 1oz with Peter Green pushing them close with 16lbs 4oz for third.
