Beggars Hall update

This year has seen the work party refreshing most of the swims - adding extensions to some and rebuilding others to help cope with the differing water levels in summer and winter which take their toll.

Some of you may also have spotted another swim sneaking in between the old 18 and 19.

The lake has fished well again this year with the carp putting on weight with them now averaging just under 10lbs with plenty in the upper teens. Please bear this in mind when fishing Beggars - you don't need heavyweight hauling tackle but make sure it is balanced and you have suitably sized landing net and mat or cradle for unhooking. It is also good if you invest in an antiseptic / wound treatment spray such as this - it is not expensive:

It is not all just about carp though with some decent roach and rudd coming out for those fishing for them along with a few bream (5lb+), tench and crucians/brown goldfish. You are never quite sure what the next bite will be.
