Wickham Hall update

Updated: Mar 17

As the newbie to the Club's waters this year has been a year of learning. This is an unusual venue with it being a lot deeper than many fisheries - it is over 25 feet in the middle.

Another stocking of bream of 1/2 - 1lb has just gone in to supplement the bream and roach stocked last winter. We have also stocked around 200 fingerling chub which should hopefully help bring the rudd under control a bit as the lake was solid with fry this year.

The work party spent many hours this year sorting out 20 pegs at the lake which involved a lot of hauling of materials around the lake. The next major work will be in improving the access around the lake with a path at water level linking the pegs together - likely in the Spring when ground conditions are a bit less muddy.

Do keep letting us know how your fishing sessions go as this helps us plan for the future - we now know there are a lot more carp in there than expected and they are breeding as plenty of small carp are also being caught.

A thank you to Rob Bicker for helping out with cutting the grass around the lake.
