River Stort - general

Bishop's Stortford Town Centre to Spellbrook and Harlow Mill

The Club has fishing available between Bishop's Stortford Town Bridge and Spellbrook lock. The Club also has a short section of fishing available downstream of Harlow Mill lock. The River fishes best with flow and colour. The Stort is a canalised river with towpath access. Please bear in mind the towpath is a public path and is used by walkers and cyclists. There are no permanent pegs apart from the Backwater section so suits the roving angler. The Club's sections break down into 5 main sections: Town Centre, Twyford Lock and Spellbrook Lock and then a jump to Harlow Mill lock which are on the main River; and the Backwater which is a small offshoot next to Malcolm Barker Lake. The Backwater is used for some of our Club matches in the colder months when the weed dies back and the flow picks up.

Species: Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch, Chub, Pike and Carp

Close season/no fishing - 15 March to 15 June (inc.) - standard river close season
